Why Teach in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica is a country that needs no introduction! Famed for its sandy beaches, deep blue seas, volcanic mountains and of course some of the most beautiful, untouched jungle that plays host to thousands of amazing species. Living and working in Costa Rica certainly has a lot going for it!
Costa Rica is a country with a population of just over 5 million people, Costa Ricans are famed for living ‘La Pura Vida’ or the ‘Pure Life’, a way of life which takes each day with a smile and relaxed attitude. Costa Ricans are reported to live a longer and healthier life than most of the world’s population and this is probably down to the fantastic climate, outdoor lifestyle and push for eating locally produced healthy food.
The cost of living in Costa Rica is generally low and your salary and rent allowance will be more than enough to enjoy everything this country has to offer. Alcohol and general groceries are cheap but expect to pay a premium for imported goods. Renting an apartment is generally quite cheap and schools will assist with rent payments. One thing to be mindful of is that you can expect a lower salary in Costa Rica (and central America in general) so if you are looking to save money this country might not be for you. However, that is a small price to pay to live in one of the most stunning parts of the world!
